Thanks to all who helped in our Jan 24th Saturday Work (half) day.  We had 25 folks who took time out to help work on our facility. Look at what we accomplished:

  • Cleaned the grease trap (it was overflowing) in the Kitchen (it was so messy!).
  • Installed a viewing window in the door to the toddler’s room from the office hallway.
  • Installed a vent grate in the door to the Youth lounge area.Removed the old ceramic water fountain in the downstairs 4 year old’s room (it had not worked in years, and no parts were available to fix it).
  • Tightened up all the blue chairs in the Sanctuary, foyer, and side rooms (no more rattling chairs!).
  • Fixed a squeaky door to the upstairs Sanctuary balcony.
  • Installed 5 locks on cabinets in the Early Childhood rooms.
  • Cleaned out and organized both our "cleaning closets".
  • Cleaned out and organized our paint closet (we found a large number of original building design documents in the process!).
  • Installed over 40 ceiling tiles (no more water spots!).
  • Installed well over 50+ lights bulbs/tubes, removed unused spot lights from the Youth Chapel, and installed ballasts.
  • Touched up paint in the downstairs fellowship area, and upstairs main entrance hallway.
  • Threw away several broken tables, and fixed a few chairs in the downstairs fellowship area.
  • Fixed the downstairs restroom men's urinal (had not worked properly in years).
  • Repaired a broken cabinet handle in the Men's upstairs restroom.
  • Fixed a leaky faucet in the kitchen.

We still have a number of projects (and our Fix-it club has been busy!).  Our next "Church Work Day" will be dedicated to Paint!  I am looking for 4 hours of time from approximately 10-20 painters.  Each painter should come dressed appropriately; bring two brushes, a 12 inch roller handle and extension, roller pan, along with 1 drop cloth, and a rag.  I will have additional foam brushes, and a few latex brushes, roller brushes, and all paint ready to go.  The work will be organized into 2-4 hour blocks. (if you are good, it will take about 2 hours; if not so good, about 4 hours :-)) We are targeting Saturday April 4th from 8:30 to 12:30 am.

Thanks again for everyone who volunteered on January 24, 2009.
