Youssouf and Awa Dembele are serving the Lord in the African country of Mali. They are currently missionaries with Avant Ministries. Youssouf is the chairman of the Evangelical Protestant Church of Mali. Awa is a leader for the women's ministry in the church. They are involved with several Bible translation projects with the International Bible Society. They are creating a service center for their church that would include offices, conference rooms, guest houses and a library. Youssouf was able to get a piece of land for building a church in the new area of Bamako, where no church exists for the many Christians who live around there. He and Awa have five children.

HOW ARE WE INVOLVED?

Youssouf and Awa Dembele were part of our church while Youssouf attended Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Youssouf taught adult bible classes and Awa was active in the children’s ministries. In our ongoing relationship we have been able to support the Dembeles by providing additional funds for oxen and plows which help individual pastors in Mali support their church families. We are privileged to be their home church when visiting the United States..
